Prestige Stone custom architectural
masonry units are to be manufactured by Johnson Concrete Company, Raeford
Division, Raeford, North Carolina. Architectural Concrete Masonry Units
shall be of the same color as approved by the architect.
Architectural Masonry Units shall
conform to ASTM C 90. The minimum net area shall be at least 2700 psi for
the individual unit. The maximum absorption shall not exceed 7.5%.
Architectural masonry units shall be in the normal weight classification and
shall not be less than 125 lbs./pcf. All units shall be tested in
accordance with ASTM C 140.
Architectural Masonry Units shall be
manufactured with a chamfered edge to insure a straight break on the face
shell of the masonry unit. The architectural masonry unit shall be manufactured
with an integral water repellent to minimize staining and efflorescence.
The manufacturing facility shall meet all requirements and criteria set forth by
W.R. Grace and be certified as a DRY BLOCK System Producer."
Architectural Masonry Units shall be
manufactured in one continuous run to
achieve color consistency and compatible textures. The manufacturer shall
provide necessary shapes, required by drawing to satisfy job conditions.
Shipping
and Handling
Architectural Masonry Units are to be shipped
on a wooden pallet and shall be delivered to job site covered with a clear 4-mil
plastic bag with shrink wrap applied to keep units covered from exposure to
weather conditions. The purchasing contractor shall be responsible for
reapplying plastic cover to any units that have been uncovered during the course
of the workday.
Sample
Panel
A sample panel shall be constructed at the job site showing the range of color
and texture, color of mortar and workmanship. Custom Masonry work
shall not proceed until approval from the architect has been received.
Cleaning
Architectural Masonry Units should be cleaned with water of detergent masonry
cleaner (Sure Klean Custom Masonry Cleaner). Manufacturer will not be held
responsible for discoloration or damage resulting from the use of high pressure
spray or cleaning solutions containing acid.
